Booking directly on this site means no service fees for you and no commission taken from us — so the price you see is the price you pay, and every euro supports Emile and Sanne directly. It also means you can contact us directly before, during, and after your stay. For group bookings or longer stays, direct bookings also make it easier to discuss flexible arrangements.
Tomar is home to the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant Templar monuments in the world. It also has a 15th-century synagogue, a working medieval water wheel in Mouchão Park, an excellent local food scene, and a main square that hasn’t been overrun by souvenir shops. It’s genuinely one of central Portugal’s best-kept secrets — which is exactly why you should visit before everyone else does.
The apartment is located on Rua São Gião, a quiet residential side street just off the main centre. Tomar is not Lisbon or Porto — it’s a calm, Portuguese working town. You’re in the centre without the noise of a tourist quarter. The inner garden at the back adds an extra layer of quiet, and the apartments face away from any main thoroughfares.
Yes. There is free parking available a short walk from the apartment. Tomar is a small city and parking is not the stress it would be in Lisbon or Porto. We’ll share the exact parking details with you when you confirm your booking.
Very easily. The Convent of Christ is about a 15-minute uphill walk from the apartment, or a short tuk-tuk or car ride. The Templar Castle is immediately next to the convent and included in the same ticket. From Pied à Terre, you’re closer to these monuments on foot than most other accommodation options in the area.
The minimum stay is 2 nights in low season and 3 nights in high season (4 July to 29 August). We find that 2–3 nights is genuinely the right amount of time to see Tomar properly without rushing — the Convent alone deserves at least two hours, and there’s more to discover in the surrounding region.
Yes! We’ll share full arrival details after your booking is confirmed. If your arrival time requires a different arrangement, just let us know in advance and we’ll make sure everything is sorted.
